My Artistic Process

My Artistic Process

My artistic journey has been one of constant evolution and discovery. Initially, constrained by space, I worked on the floors of my bedrooms, creating smaller pieces. However, my aspiration was always to scale up, to express myself on larger canvases. This dream became a reality a few years ago when I rented my first studio. The expansive space opened wide the doors to creating large-scale paintings, helping me find my true purpose in art.

In my studio, I often find myself working on several pieces simultaneously, moving from one to another. This process involves adding layers, marks, and brushstrokes, each a translation of my emotions. My approach to art is deeply intuitive and free. I incorporate various mediums like acrylic paint, charcoal, oil and soft pastels, ink, and heavy body textured acrylics to build depth and texture. Each artwork starts with an open mind, allowing the emotions and the creative process to guide the final outcome.

The use of unprimed canvas, showcasing the natural color of cotton, adds an element of authenticity to my work. It reflects a yearning for genuine connections and experiences in our lives. Additionally, my exploration in collage artworks represents a journey into myself. These pieces, akin to puzzles, symbolize the ongoing process of learning from our mistakes, embracing possibilities, and transforming them into unexpected beauty.

For me, art is not just about the visual experience; it's about emotional resonance. I want viewers to feel the emotions embedded in each piece, to discover the multitude of details and elements gradually, day by day. My art is an invitation to observe, feel, and connect with the deeper layers of human experience.

Embarking on my artistic journey, I initially found my voice in the bold, textured world of canvas art. However, a transformative experience during an artist residency in China opened my eyes to the delicate yet versatile medium of paper. This shift not only broadened my creative horizons but also allowed me to explore the intricate balance between strength and fragility in my art.

Working with paper introduced me to an array of textures and weights, each bringing a unique quality to my creations. The lightness of paper, contrasted with its ability to hold heavy textures and mixed media, has been a revelation. It challenges me to rethink my approach to art, exploring the delicate interplay between medium and message.

This transition from canvas to paper has been more than a change in material; it's been an evolution in my artistic expression. On paper, I find a freedom that is both liberating and daunting. Each piece becomes a dance of delicacy and strength, an exploration of the fine line where art meets the ephemeral.

In my work, I strive to capture the essence of my emotions and experiences, translating them into visual narratives that resonate with depth and meaning. Whether on canvas or paper, my art is a reflection of my journey - an ever-evolving exploration of the world through color, texture, and form.
